The Saskatchewan Psychiatric Association is a volunteer run organization that exists to support mental health and psychiatric research, education, and services in the province of Saskatchewan.

What We Do
At the SPA, our focus is on increasing psychiatric knowledge and supporting provincial psychiatrists. We encourage and develop research into the causes, treatment and prevention of mental disorders, and promote psychiatric education for the improvement and the extension of the treatment of people living with mental and emotional disorders.
Member Benefits
The SPA represents psychiatrists across Saskatchewan, and to promote awareness and knowledge of the usefulness of the field of psychiatry.
We represent members of the Association in their relationship with the Government of Canada, provincial and municipal governments, universities, medical associations and other associations, organizations and bodies with which the psychiatrists of Saskatchewan from the time to time may have
relationships.
As a member, your participation will directly assist the association with supporting educational and research endeavours in the field of psychiatry in the province of Saskatchewan.

Psychiatry Academic Day is an annual conference at the University of Saskatchewan that welcomes mental health professionals from around the country. In recent years, guest speakers have been invited from Canada, USA, and the UK.
The SPA sponsors prizes for undergraduate, resident and graduate student research in the field of psychiatry. You can see more about the student research undertaken in the department here.
The SPA was happy to be able to donate $60K to SHNB’s fundraising. The SHNB is a new hospital that has a world class psychiatric facilities and programming.
The SPA has also recently sponsored the Saskatchewan RPN Association conferences, and the Local Mental Health Care Home Operator’s Association Conferences.
